Working with Nahanni's Herd

August 26, 20221 min read

I went to Nahanni’s beautiful farm on Lookout Mountain today to work with her 5 horses, and also give her and her 2 teenagers lessons. There are not many owners like Steve & Nahanni. I work with each horse and see what is going on. I show her what I am doing and then I give her homework to work on with each horse. She has always done the work I asked her to do, and I see positive changes every time I can make it up to her farm.

Working with Lula, a misunderstood rescue horse that was labeled as "dangerous"

Horse training is never a cookie cutter solution, and every horse is different and has different needs. One horse in particular that I was very interested in working with is her horse named Lula. She was labeled as being dangerous from the rescue she came from. Apparently she was returned 3 times before Steve & Nahanni gave her a home. Lula has a very serious bolting problem and will run herself through fences. After evaluating her and also doing some bodywork on her I realized that she is in no way a dangerous horse. She was very misunderstood and mishandled.

Amy Vanner doing a MagnaWave session on a horse with a lot of past physical & emotional trauma

She is a right brained extrovert and extremely sensitive. I was able to zero in on her very quickly, and the little work I have done with her has been amazing. She will take a bit of time to get the point of being ridden again due her past negative experiences & trauma. but we have made some huge progress.
